Launch of new research facility at Monash

On Decem­ber 3rd, Monash Uni­ver­si­ty launched the Aus­tralian Research Coun­cil Cen­tre of Excel­lence for the Elim­i­na­tion of Vio­lence Against Women (CEVAW), a research cen­tre ded­i­cat­ed to increased under­stand­ing and work­ing towards the elim­i­na­tion of vio­lence against women in Aus­tralia and the Indo-Pacific.

Splin­ter Soci­ety was hon­oured to be engaged to design the inte­ri­or fitout for the research facil­i­ty. Draw­ing inspi­ra­tion from the Indige­nous yarn­ing cir­cle, the design of the spaces fos­ters con­nec­tion, col­lab­o­ra­tion, and dia­logue. The facil­i­ty fea­tures an inte­grat­ed indoor-out­door meet­ing space, an open-plan office, pri­vate offices, and a con­fer­ence room.

In keep­ing with a com­mit­ment to hon­our Indige­nous cul­ture, the fitout incor­po­rates art­work and fur­ni­ture craft­ed by Indige­nous artists, cel­e­brat­ing their her­itage and stories.

Our team attend­ed the Wel­come to Coun­try Smok­ing Cer­e­mo­ny and was delight­ed to see peo­ple com­ing togeth­er in the new space.
