Construction is advancing on the bespoke three-level concrete house in Hawthorn, with the raw structure now defining the architecture. The sweeping in-situ concrete façade is fully in place, its spiral curve extending through to the rear, establishing the project’s defining gesture.
Inside, the interplay of curving concrete walls and black steel details is becoming more pronounced. The solid steel plate stair now cantilevers from the curving wall, anchoring the central stair hall. A vertical stack of spaces are positioned to overlook the pool and terrace. Further into the space, the open plan kitchen and living space are beginning to be installed with finely crafted joinery still to come. Here expansive glazing opens directly onto the rear terrace, fostering light and openness.
The pool pavilion is also emerging, with a scalloped roofline overhang, working back to the concrete curves.
With the structural framework largely complete, the build is shifting toward refinement of interiors and detailing.
